While we recommend that all guests bring their most recent and valid travel documentation, we do offer some cruises that don’t require a passport. In general, these are “closed-loop” voyages, or those which travel roundtrip to ports in the United States, such as:
- Alaska roundtrip from San Francisco or Seattle
- Canada & New England roundtrip from New York
- Caribbean roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale or New York
- Hawaii roundtrip from Los Angeles or San Francisco
- Mexico roundtrip from Los Angeles or San Francisco

Cruising to Mexico
Mexico is one of the easiest places to cruise without a passport. All our Mexico itineraries are roundtrip from Los Angeles or San Francisco. This means that you can travel on any of these voyages without worrying about a passport. Embark on a 10-day Cruise to Mexico and admire the 19th-century architecture of the Cathedral de Nuestra Señora de la Paz. Or, visit the unspoiled beaches of Todos Santos where you can stroll across the white sand and dip your toes into the refreshing waters. For a shorter trip to Mexico, consider a five-day Cabo San Lucas Getaway. Rekindle romance on Lover’s Beach, dive into a snorkeling adventure, or set sail on a catamaran to catch a glimpse of migrating whales.
Cruises to the Caribbean
Many of our Caribbean itineraries are roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale meaning you have many options for cruises that don’t require a passport. All About Alaska
When cruising to Alaska, your voyage will require a passport if you begin or end in Vancouver, B.C. as you will need proper documentation to fly in and out of Canada. If your voyage begins and ends in New York but makes stops in Victoria or Vancouver, B.C. along the way, you may not need a passport since you will be flying out of the United States instead.
Traveling with a Minor
The one time you may require a passport on these voyages is when traveling with a minor. Every member of your group will need to bring this documentation regardless of your voyage. This ensures that all members of your party can safely disembark at any port in the case of an emergency.
If you don’t already have a passport, obtaining one is much easier than you may think. Simply visit an Application Acceptance location or a Post Office and apply. While passports may take several weeks to arrive, you have the option to expedite your documents if you already have travel planned.
