Scotch Malt Whisky Society and Highland Bagpipe Demonstration
Tucked into a restored Georgian townhouse, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, in operation for more than 30 years, began with a single cask of whisky. Since then, it has grown from a small circle of friends to an exclusive membership club. The Society bottles rare, single malt whisky from single casks producing unique liquors with distinct aromas, flavors and aftertastes. Later, listen to the iconic sounds of the music of the great highland bagpipes, considered Scotland's national instrument. Local expert Louise Marshall will impart the story of the instrument and demonstrate the basics involved in playing including the breathing techniques and correct positioning. After this introduction you'll have the unique opportunity to try your hand at playing the bagpipes yourself.

A 45-minute drive from port takes you into central Edinburgh, Scotland's vibrant capital city, and the historic Malt Whisky Society building. Located in the historic Leith area of Edinburgh, the venue is one of Scotland's oldest commercial buildings – it was formerly a wine warehouse!
