Board your motorcoach for the short drive to King Håkon's Hall. Completed in 1261, this great hall was built by King Håkon to celebrate royal weddings and coronations. Tour the wood and stone hall, view its medieval tapestries, and see the primstav, or clog almanac, a calendar dating from 1200.

Pass the 16th-century Rosenkrantz Tower on your way to Bryggen. This World Heritage Site was a major trading center for the Hanseatic League during the Middle Ages. Today, with its narrow cobbled lanes, two-story gabled houses and historic wharf, the district is home to a lively scene made up of artists' studios, galleries, boutiques and chic restaurants.

Next on your agenda is a visit to Schøtstuene. Located in the Bryggen district, the hall is a recreation of a medieval assembly room from the days of the Hanseatic League. Here, League merchants from around the Baltic would meet, conduct business, and dine. Your visit includes a fascinating look at the hall's kitchens. Before reboarding the coaches for the last leg, take part in a guided walk of the Hanseatic Wharf - Bryggen.

Continue your drive past the open-air fish market at Torget and onto the Nordnes Peninsula, passing the Aquarium en route to the Old Bergen Museum. Located in Sandviken, this open-air museum features a collection of charming 18th- and 19th-century houses. The museum offers splendid views across the fjord toward the city.

The history and culture of Bergen, the second largest city in Norway and the unofficial capital of the western region, comes to life on this intriguing half-day tour ideal for active travelers.

Special Notes:
