Glacier Discovery by Helicopter

After a short transfer to the heliport, you'll have a safety briefing and get outfitted with boots and vests for your time on the glacier.

Board your helicopter, lift off from the historic Skagway waterfront and head into a rugged region of sheer mountains, majestic valleys and massive glaciers. Jagged peaks towering over the Chilkat Glacier, cascading waterfalls surrounding the Ferebee Glacier, or the spectacular "river of ice" known as the Meade Glacier are among the wonders you may encounter. Flight routes and landing zones are selected daily to ensure you enjoy the best the area has to offer.

After a thrilling 20-minute flight over spectacular glaciers, you'll have the rare opportunity to explore one of Mother Nature's greatest marvels. Enjoy an unforgettable 40-minute walking tour as experienced glacier guides explain the awesome forces at work.

Reboard your helicopter for another 20-minute Flightseeing tour back to the heliport. Change out of your glacier boots before transferring to the dock. There is a gift shop at the heliport that guests can visit before and after the flight.

Special Notes:

Weight surcharge ($130) may apply on this flight. Due to weight and balance limitations, as well as passenger safety and comfort, the helicopter companies have advised that guests weighing 250 lbs. or more (fully clothed) will be assessed the weight surcharge to reserve adequate space onboard the helicopter. Guests weighing 250 lbs. or more should reserve 2 tickets and, once onboard, go to the Tour Office to have the extra ticket charge adjusted down to the surcharge amount. Refer to the FAQ section for important information about flightseeing tour.

Carry-on bags are not allowed and there is limited secure storage at the heliport. iPads, iPad minis, tablets, drones and Go-Pro Sticks or other extendable items are not permitted on tour. Aircraft fly no higher than 7,000 feet. Oxygen for personal use is allowed but must be in the form of an FAA approved portable oxygen concentrator that can be secured to the user's body.

Helicopter excursions are not refundable unless cancelled by 12:00pm on the day after embarkation.

Unaccompanied Minor Policy: Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children 13 to 17 must have a signed parental consent form to participate without a parent or guardian.
