What you visit:

Outdoor Adventure: Wildlife Safari
Cruise in a comfortable, waterjet-powered vessel with indoor and outdoor viewing areas through beautiful passages that are home to an abundance of wildlife, including humpback and killer whales, sea lions, porpoises, harbor seals, sea otters, bears and eagles. A naturalist and skilled captain share their knowledge of the area and the wildlife habitats and patterns of movement and will ensure the best possible photographic opportunities.

Annette Island, Beach Camp
"La Gwelga Lak!"; "The Fire Has Been Lit!" Step ashore on remote Annette Island, designated as the only native reserve in Alaska. This gentle bay area with a sloping beach fringed with native vegetation is an opportunity to explore the old-growth rainforest and learn about the intertidal zone and traditional Alaska Native harvesting techniques. A beach bonfire will be lit for a festive atmosphere by Tsimshian Alaska Natives who will be your guides to traditional gathering and cultural customs.

What you see along the way:
Depart Ketchikan's picturesque harbor, passing colorful float planes and fishing boats en route to the western channel. Nestled in the midst of the Tongass National Forest, Ketchikan's forested slopes and rugged coastline make for breathtaking vistas.

Photo Opportunities:
Your captain will expertly seek out the best opportunities to photograph wildlife in the area. On your return route to Ketchikan, the boat travels through Tongass Narrows. You'll want to capture pictures of the historic waterfront sights.

Snack:
At the beach bonfire, you will enjoy a filling snack of reindeer sausage hotdogs and other local delights while sipping on an Alaskan beer or your choice of wine, soda or juice. Finish your meal with an American classic, roasting marshmallows for s'mores made with locally crafted chocolate.

While aboard the vessel, warm up with complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate. There is also an opportunity to purchase additional treats, such as locally harvested and canned smoked salmon, devil's club tea and salve, pickled bull kelp, salmon jerky, and candy.
