What You Visit:

Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary Zipline Course
Upon arriving at a private rainforest sanctuary at Herring Cove, you'll board a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle for a short drive to Canopy Chalet. Here, you'll receive a detailed safety briefing and gear up with state-of-the-art safety equipment. A short uphill hike takes you to a practice zipline and start of the course. This eco-adventure combines a flight over eight ziplines providing an aerial view of Bear Creek and a forest waterfall. Each successive zip ride provides a unique perspective and a new challenge. At the end of the course, rappel to the ground from the last tree platform. Back at the base camp, take the opportunity to shop at the General Store, visit the Alaska Raptor Center's exhibit and explore the on-site totem park.

Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show
Transfer back into downtown Ketchikan for the next stage of adventure. The Travel Channel calls the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show one of the "Top 10 Things to See in Alaska." From the pier, you'll walk to the covered, heated and cushioned grandstand. You'll get to see Alaska's frontier lumberjacks battle British Columbia's premier woodsmen in a no-holds-barred competition for the title "Bull of the Woods." These world champion athletes are featured in springboard chopping, buck sawing, axe throwing, log rolling and the thrilling 50-foot tree climb, while the colorful host delights the crowd with stories of lumberjack lore.

Photo Opportunity:
At the zipline course, you'll witness panoramic ocean, forest and mountain vistas from the platforms in this lush rainforest preserve. Back on land, explore the Alaska Raptor Center's exhibit, on-site totem park and historic sawmill. At the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show, be prepared to see six-foot razor-sharp saws slicing through trees, men running atop spinning logs floating in the water, souped-up chainsaws flying through the air, and more! At the end of the show, you can have your picture taken with the "surviving" lumberjack. (Videotaping of the show is not permitted).

Snacks:
Purchase popcorn, cookies, candy, soda and coffee before the lumberjack show.

Shopping:
The General Store at the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary and the Great Alaskan Lumberjack show have a wide selection of items. Look for unique Alaskan souvenirs like the Lumberjack calendar as a perfect memento of your visit. Afterwards, you're free to wander the town, or simply take the short walk back to your ship at your leisure.
