Lamanai Mayan Ruins, River Boat Safari with Lunch

Your excursion begins at the pier where you'll board your air-conditioned transportation for the transfer through the scenic Belize River Valley. From here a semi-covered riverboat will take you on an approximately 30 minute guided River Boat Safari Tour.

Enjoy the scenery as you cruise up the New River Lagoon. Your guide will note the tropical foliage, animals and birds in the area. Your captain will expertly navigate the waterway as your guide points out the interesting highlights teeming within the lush tropical foliage and emerald water. Keep your camera ready, as you're likely to see freshwater crocodiles, howler monkeys, iguanas, and over a hundred bird species.

After some 25 minutes on the Riverboat Safari, the Lamanai (Mayan for submerged crocodile) Mayan R will come into view. Your boat will dock at the Lamanai Welcome Center where your exploration will begin with your BTB & BCIA Certified guide.

Well-kept paths though the ancient jungle lead to an impressive gathering of monuments and temples. Take in the enormity of this ancient architectural find, as Howler Monkeys scramble throughout the canopies of the huge Ceiba trees fringing the structures while countless birds vocalize overhead. Your guide will take you through the impressive courts and temples, and you'll have an opportunity to climb up some 125 feet for a panoramic view that encompasses the Lamanai ruins, New River Lagoon and the Lamanai Archeology Reserve beyond.

After the tour, you'll head back to Ayinha Eco Park for a delicious buffet lunch of rice & beans, stew chicken, potato salad and fruit drink. With time to digest and visit the gift shop, you'll then board your transportation for the ride back to the pier where your ship awaits to take you on another unforgettable adventure.

Special Notes:

Minimum age to participate is 4 years old. Climbing the ruins is not permitted. Wildlife sightings, while common, are not guaranteed. It is suggested that participants wear long pants and closed toe shoes and bring insect repellent and rain gear. Once participants join their tour, they will be required to complete a liability waiver. Tour time may vary due to tendering procedures.
