Hunt for that perfect souvenir, grab a local treat or peruse the historic displays in the Grand Turk National Museum and adjacent botanical gardens at this small local village enclave on Front Street.

Duke Street
With its old Bermudian-style architecture, heritage churches and old cannons, tree lined Duke Street, nestled in the heart of Cockburn Town, takes you back in time.


Photo Opportunities:

John Glenn Space Capsule
The first American to orbit the earth, Glenn splashed into the waters off the coast of Grand Turk and relaxed on the island for several days after his historic flight. Be sure to snap a photo of a replica of John Glenn's Friendship 7 space capsule, a piece of American history.

Grand Turk Light House
Built in 1852 at the northernmost tip of the island, this significant landmark was transported piece by piece to the island from Britain. Both it and the lighthouse keeper's house are designated as historic sites by the National Trust. Picture-perfect views stretch out from the scenic limestone bluffs.

Salt Pond
The area's salt trade began as early as the 1600s and was the foundation of the Turks Islands' economy for over 300 years as islanders used natural ponds to evaporate seawater and harvest salt for export. The vast, shallow ponds, called the salinas, are also nesting sites for the endangered pink flamingo as well as the brown pelican.
