Honduras is a multi-faceted country with everything from Mayan ruins, tropical rainforests, exotic wildlife and cultural art to warm Caribbean waters in the Bay Islands and the second-largest barrier reef in the world! At Maya Key, you'll discover all the reasons why the country of Honduras is the centerpiece of Central America, without ever having to leave the island of Roatán. When you arrive, white-sand beaches and crystal clear Caribbean waters stretch out before you. This pristine island features two secluded beaches, excellent snorkeling from a scenic pier, a 70,000-gallon swimming pool, a 5,000-square-foot lounge deck, lush garden paths bursting with indigenous flora, and most recently an animal rescue center, The Bay Islands' Interpretation Center and Ethnic Honduran Art Exhibit Center. Your guide will escort you as you explore life-size replicas of the Copan ruins, what some call the Paris of ancient Mayan cities. This fascinating cultural opportunity continues as you are led on a walk-though of the Maya Interpretation Center and Honduran Art Exhibit Center. You'll also want to take a guided tour through the Animal Sanctuary and Rescue Center to see native Honduran wildlife, such as jaguar, ocelot, a margay, three different species of monkeys, exotic birds and an array of reptiles, in a natural setting. For water lovers, snorkel the barrier reef from a scenic pier or simply lounge under the swaying coconut palms of Maya Key's beach and listen to the lapping of the waves. Snorkel gear is available to rent. If you prefer the pool, the sparkling waters invite you to take a dip. All this fun in the sun works up an appetite, so go ahead and feast on a succulent buffet style lunch complete with grilled BBQ chicken and a variety of traditional side dishes and salad. Refreshed, peruse the finest Honduran handicrafts at Tonina's Gift Shop and take home a memento of your Maya Kay trip. At the completion of your day in paradise, return by boat to the pier.

Special Notes:

Wear a swimsuit, bring your snorkeling equipment, a towel, adequate sun protection and insect repellent. Snorkel gear is not provided with the tour. Snorkel gear can be rented for a nominal fee at the beach. Once participants join their tour, they will be required to complete a liability waiver. Lockers and Wifi access are available for rent/purchase. Lounge chairs are included.
