WHAT YOU VISIT
Alaska Raptor Center
Dedicated to treating injured bald eagles and other birds of prey, this breathtaking 17-acre rehabilitation facility and flight-training center is also acclaimed for its bald eagle research and environmental conservation. During your one-hour tour you'll see how handlers nurture injured raptors back to health for release into the wild and enjoy up-close encounters with owls, hawks and other majestic creatures.

Sitka National Historical Park
Breathe in the fresh air as you meander along scenic paths framed in giant spruce trees and lined with totem poles, stately reminders of the Natives' traditions and values of tribal culture. During your 45-minute walk you'll discover how this serene place has been home to Tlingit, Russian and American peoples. At the park's visitor center, you'll see crafts created by local artists, as well as ancient artifacts.

Sitka Sound Science Center
Five different species of wild Pacific salmon are found in Alaska's waters and over 12 million get their start at the Sitka Sound Science Center hatchery. While walking past the hatchery, you'll discover how kings, cohos, pinks and chums are raised from eggs in Alaska's only training facility. After a fascinating presentation you enjoy picturesque photo opportunities on the boardwalk next to the facility.

Crescent Harbor
Walk through history with a leisurely tour past Sitka's memorable sights, which includes two buildings on the National Register of Historic Places: the beautifully restored Russian Bishop's House, which dates back to 1858 when Sitka was the Russian colonial capital, and the 168-year-old St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral that houses a priceless collection of orthodox art and religious artifacts dating back to the 18th century.

Have your camera handy as you view the Raptor Center's open bird habitat and clinic area where many bald eagles, owls, and hawks recuperate.

The towering totem poles carved by the Native peoples of southeast Alaska inside Sitka National Historical Park are a lasting memorial to the cultural heritage of the Tlingit and Haida Native peoples.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Keep your eyes open as you stroll from Sitka National Historical Park to the Science Center - you may see wild bald eagles, ravens and other mammals.

At the end of your adventure you'll walk back to the pier enlightened and charmed by this unforgettable experience.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 5. The tour covers 1.5 miles of uneven ground, trails and stairways. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes and layered clothing are recommended. Tour order may vary.
