Taste of Sitka – A Food Lover's Tour
One of the best ways to get to know a place is through its cuisine. Thanks to its rich natural resources, vibrant fishing community and hungry residents, Sitka - on the west coast of rugged Baranof Island - is earning its reputation as a foodie paradise. Join knowledgeable guides for a memorable stroll, where you'll sample the flavors of Alaska and meet local culinary artists, who will quickly feel like old friends.

What you will see along the way:
Sitka, Alaska, is known as "The Pearl of the Pacific." Located on Baranof Island, this beautiful seaside town set against the backdrop of the dormant volcano Mt. Edgecumbe boasts lovely St. Michael's Cathedral and 22 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places.

Tastings:
Pacific Northwest frontier cuisine is on the menu during this culinary walking tour that includes generous tastings of the local favorites in Sitka.
Visit Ashmo's Food Truck, specializing in wild Alaska fish. Chef Ashley Moore's menu includes black cod tips, served with rice, and beer battered fish and chips.
Rich chowder and with other local treats are served in an atmospheric café.
Tastings of beer crafted in Alaska.
Sample pelmeni, a flavorful dumpling of meat or potatoes, a dish that is at the heart of Russian cuisine.
At the Alaska Pure Sea Salt Company, founders Jim and Darcy Michener produce perfectly flaked sea salt. Taste some of the locally infused flavors, including alder smoked, wild blueberry and Sitka spruce tip.
The famous reindeer sausage hot dog is served up by Chef Jo, as is his Mighty Mac and Cheese Dawg or Hot Diggity Dawg with prosciutto, brie and caramelized onions. No matter which you choose, it's bound to be tasty.
