WHAT YOU VISIT

Kayaking around Siginaka Islands
From the cruise ship terminal, you'll board an expedition catamaran with a fully enclosed cabin and restroom and cruise to the pristine Siginaka Islands, where your guides will present a fun and informative kayak skills/safety orientation. You and your paddle companion will then board your 2-person sea kayak and launch from the island. While gliding quietly through the narrow passages, you'll learn a little about the Tlingit people, who still harvest the ocean's bounty using knowledge passed down since the last Ice Age.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Have your camera at the ready as you paddle around the island. Your guides will point out marine life below the clear blue water such as crabs, sea stars, anemones, sea urchins, jellyfish and more. Above the water's surface, there are frequent sightings of sea otters, sea lions, porpoise, harbor seals, bald eagles and a variety of marine birds.

SNACKS
After about 90-minutes of paddling, you'll land back at the base camp for a snack of individually-wrapped biscotti with coffee, hot cocoa, and bottled water while soaking in the soul-stirring views before reboarding the catamaran.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
The return voyage to your ship will take a completely different route. Sit in the comfortable heated cabin or lean against an outside deck rail as you watch for whales and other interesting sights.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 6 years. Maximum height is 6'6" and maximum weight is 275 lbs. Guests should be able to navigate stepping into the boat with assistance and be fit enough to paddle in two-person kayaks. Wildlife sightings are frequent but not guaranteed.
