What you will visit:

Scenic Small-Group Cruise
Your captain will narrate as he navigates the covered cabin cruiser toward Camp Coogan Bay. Search for wildlife on this short ride to The Boar's Nest Floathouse.

Boar's Nest Floathouse
Just 20 minutes from Sitka, but seemingly worlds away, the small, rustic Boar's Nest Floathouse is situated on picturesque Camp Coogan Bay. This privately owned, functional houseboat, built in the 1920s during the logging era, is steeped in history. Step back in time when you step inside and learn what it's like to live off the grid in this peaceful bay.

Tongass National Forest (hike)
The ancient Tongass National Forest is the nation's largest national forest at almost 17 million acres (almost 5.7 million acres has been designated as wilderness). Home to a diverse cross-section of animals, including bears, eagles, salmon, Sitka black-tailed deer and trumpeter swans, many amazing botanical species native to this region can also be seen on a guided hike. Adequate footwear is a must, as this hike covers uneven, steep and slippery terrain. Rubber boots are provided.

Trout Lake (fishing/canoe)
A shimmering lake, stocked with small trout (not trophy size), invites anglers to explore several fishing options. Fly-fishing or spin casting gear, along with bait and tackle, is provided for those who want to try their luck. A small launch dock and inflatable canoes can be utilized to explore the shoreline. You'll spend 60-90 minutes at the lake. For guests who would like to fish, a license must be purchased for $25 cash.

What you will see along the way:
Your captain will steer the vessel to picturesque Camp Coogan Bay providing spectacular coastal scenery. Keep an eye out for abundant wildlife, both in the icy waters and along the shoreline, including whales, sea otters, sea lions, porpoises, seals and bald eagles as well as Sitka black-tailed deer and brown bears that make their home among the glacier-carved peaks, secluded passages, and other natural and historic wonders.

Snack:
Refresh with a light snack of trail mix, a granola bar, an apple/orange and bottled water.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 7 years. Participants should be in good physical shape and be prepared to hike an average of 45 minutes each way to and from the lake. Terrain in some areas is steep, boggy and occasionally slippery. Guests should wear waterproof hiking shoes if possible. Rubber boots, backpacks and fishing gear are provided. For guests who would like to fish, a license must be purchased for $25 cash. Fishing is catch-and-release. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

Liability waiver is required to be signed in the presence of the tour operator.

Unaccompanied Minors Policy: Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
