Take a van from the pier to a nearby dock where you will then board a boat and embark on a thrilling 30-minute cruise among the scenic islands and channels of Sitka Sound. As you traverse this breathtaking body of water your knowledgeable captain will provide you with an informative commentary about the passing sights and point out marine life such as whales, seals, sea otters and seabirds that make their home in this spectacular eco-system.

Your destination is Kruzof Island formed eons ago by volcanic activity. This now dormant volcano island was named in 1805 after a Russian Admiral. Upon your arrival, expert guides will help you gear up in your poncho and helmet before you board a two-person Yamaha RHINO 4X4 off-road vehicle that you can drive yourself! After a briefing on safe operating procedures, take off on an exhilarating ride through the lush temperate rainforest of this island paradise.

Your off-road drive will take you to a scenic estuary, rife with lush vegetation and colorful wildflowers. As you stop to take in the beauty of this lovely area, be sure to have your cameras at the ready for the opportunity to photograph brown bears and Sitka blacktail deer which are abundant in the area. Enjoy a complimentary beverage and picnic style snack, then drivers may switch positions before resuming your off-road exploration.

But your adventure isn't over yet! Make one last stop for a short walk to a bridge overlooking a rushing river, where thousands of salmon can be seen during spawning season.

Contemplate the wonders of your wilderness adventure as you drive back to your boat for the return journey to Sitka and your Princess ship in the harbor.
