What you will visit:
Sausalito
Sausalito feels like one part historic fishing village, one part sleepy vacation spot and one part bohemian enclave. On our drive, we will pass the Sausalito houseboat community. This fascinating neighborhood is a hidden delight, and taking the time to walk the docks will reveal quaint architecture, seaside gardens and friendly locals who might just wave hello. Then it's on to downtown Sausalito, with time to walk streets lined with cafes, shops and art galleries. While fog commonly rolls through into the bay from the ocean, various neighborhoods in the bay are known to have micro-climates, and Sausalito is no exception. The temperatures are commonly warmer here, and this gives Sausalito a slight Mediterranean coastal feel.
San Francisco Ferry Building Marketplace
Located on the city's Embarcadero, the 65,000-square-foot food emporium's strategic location at the foot of Market Street occupies a space that was once the primary portal to the city. Opened in 1898, the Ferry Building was the focal point for anyone arriving by ferry. It declined in the 1950s, and it wasn't until 2003 that the landmark reopened, after an extensive restoration, as a world-class public food market.
What you'll see along the way:
One of America's most picturesque cities, San Francisco is famed for its cable cars, fog-enshrined bridge, 43 hills, a delightful mix of Victorian architecture and free-spirited charms, plus all the hustle and bustle of a world-class city. 'The City by the Bay' has it all and isn't afraid to show it.
Photo Opportunity:
Vista Point / Golden Gate Bridge
Stop at Vista Point, the northern part of the Golden Gate Bridge, for a brief photo stop to memorialize what is arguably the most photographed bridge in the world. Capture its majesty on film as well as views of the bay, city skyline, Alcatraz, and Angel Island and Yerba Buena Island, two islands situated in the San Francisco Bay.
