What you will visit:

Salmon Hatchery
Transfer from the pier to the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery where you'll embark on a tour of the facility, watch salmon swim upstream in the man-made fish ladder and learn more about salmon lifecycle and their role in Alaska history and cuisine..

Salmon Fishing
Guests can experience the thrill of catching salmon without boarding a small boat. Perfect for families, fish from a picturesque spot with dock and shoreline access with the help of knowledgeable staff. Salmon are abundant in the waters, but varieties are seasonal. King salmon are available in May and June, keta salmon in June and July, and pink salmon and silver salmon in August through September. Arrangements can be made to ensure that your catch is safely shipped home. Raingear, boots, nets, poles and lures are supplied.

What you will see along the way:

Juneau
Accessible only by air or by water, Juneau, Alaska's charming capital, has retained the character of that era when prospectors arrived more than 100 years ago. Before the late 19th century, southeast Alaska was virtually unpopulated. Juneau sparkles with magnificent Alaska scenery – from deep emerald forests to snow-tipped mountains, sparkling glaciers, and streams of spawning salmon. Set against this dramatic backdrop, a historic downtown core proudly displays Gold Rush era buildings, Native heritage sites, and colorful shops, galleries, restaurants and bars that offer a modern experience touched with hints of the past.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 6. Bring appropriate outdoor clothing. Please remember you are purchasing the opportunity to catch fish, not a guarantee of doing so. Tour starts June 1. All safety equipment and fishing gear is provided. Some early morning or early evening departures may not visit the interior of the hatchery but guests will still see the fish ladder and learn about the hatchery operations.

A fishing license is required and can be purchased from your guide onboard your boat for $25 cash per person. When king salmon is targeted, a $15 per person additional retention tag is required. Children under 16 are not required to purchase a license.

Your catch can be processed and shipped home for an additional charge as arranged by the tour operator. Because of its perishable nature and U.S. Customs regulations, your catch may not be sent outside of the United States in most cases. Due to federal regulations, your catch may not be stored onboard your cruise ship.
