Enter the gates of this once-private estate and wind past dramatic cliff-top views of the protected bay below. Stroll through outdoor rooms and see rippling pools, fountains and dramatic sculptures and venture to a secluded waterfall in a part of the gardens most visitors do not see.

Artist Robert Allerton and is adopted son, John Gregg Allerton, created this masterpiece of landscape architecture and garden art in the early 20th century. Your day of adventure begins with a short scenic van ride to the Allerton & McBryde Gardens in Poipu on the southern coast of Kauai. Upon arrival to the Lawai Valley you will embark on a guided walking tour of Allerton Garden, described as a living work of art that includes water features, statuary and garden rooms that delight visitors at every turn. Allerton Garden has been noted by National Geographic Traveler Magazine as one of the top 50 must see attractions in the world.

Next, you will travel by vehicle deeper into the upper Lawai Valley and McBryde Garden exploring areas of this beautiful valley that most visitors don't get to experience. McBryde Garden is over 250 acres of conservation research land and home to over 6000 rare and endangered species of plants collected from throughout the Pacific Basin and the world.

After a delightful lunch in an oudoor garden setting you will have the opportunity to embark on a short leisurely walk on a magical trail with some of the rarest species of plants found in the Garden, to a lush tropical rain forest which has a backdrop of one of the most beautiful waterfalls on Kauai.

Once the tour of the garden is complete you will have the opportunity to enjoy the Visitor Center and make a stop at Spouting Horn, one of the most popular attractions in Kauai before heading back to the cruise ship pier.

Special Notes:

The visitor center and gift shop is closed on Mondays; guests arriving on this day will spend more time in the garden. Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes or "hiking" sandals with heel strap and sturdy sole. Long pants are recommended. Bring a hat, adequate sun protection and insect repellant. This tour features extensive walking over uneven and sometimes dusty paths. Participants must negotiate steps. Unable to accomdate guests in wheelchairs and not recommended for guests with limited mobility.
