What you will visit:

Small-Group Fishing Excursion
The waters near Auke Bay Harbor teem with fish, making this the perfect opportunity for beginners of all ages. The Fins and Grins excursion hosts a maximum of six guests on its sturdy cruiser, offering an intimate experience in the very productive southeast Alaska waters. Guests each have their own rod, and unlike trolling excursions, you work the rod at all times. A wide variety of fish, from flounder, sole and cod to herring and rockfish, can be found in the frigid waters. You can choose to hook and release or have your catch processed locally to ship home (an additional charge). Sightings of sea lions, porpoises, harbor seals and even whales have been reported.

What you will see along the way:
Sit back and relax on your motorcoach transfer to the harbor and admire the scenic vistas as you travel the 12-mile drive from downtown along Gastineau Channel's scenic tidelands, separating Juneau from Douglas Island. Once on the water, you might have the chance to see Mendenhall Glacier carved into the landscape and the abundance of wildlife that populate the area.

Snack:
To replenish your energy, enjoy smoked salmon, cheese and crackers along with water.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 4. Rubber-soled or deck shoes must be worn on the boat. Bring appropriate outdoor clothing. Boats will carry a maximum of 6 guests. Catching fish is very likely but not guaranteed. All safety equipment and fishing gear is provided.

A fishing license is required and can be purchased onboard your boat for $25 cash per person. When king salmon is targeted, a $15 per person additional retention tag is required. Children under 16 are not required to purchase a license.

Your catch can be processed and shipped home for an additional charge as arranged by the tour operator. Because of its perishable nature and U.S. Customs regulations, your catch may not be sent outside of the United States in most cases. Due to federal regulations, your catch may not be stored onboard your cruise ship, but may be prepared for dinner onboard.

Provided: Fishing gear, rain jacket
