What You Will Visit:

Whale-Watching Cruise
The Inside Passage waters near Juneau support a very healthy humpback whale population. In addition, keep your eye out for other world-class wildlife like orca, bald eagles, harbor seals, Steller sea lions and Dall's porpoise. If whales are sighted, your captain will maneuver the boat to allow for exceptional viewing and photo opportunities. A heated cabin provides comfort on chilly days, but dress accordingly for all types of weather. So plentiful are these nutrient-rich waters that a whale sighting is guaranteed or you will receive a refund of $50 per person from the tour operator.

Sentinel Island Lighthouse
Walk along a scenic boardwalk loop with stunning views of Lynn Canal and the surrounding islands and waterways on your leisurely approach to the iconic Sentinel Island Lighthouse. Constructed in 1902 and steeped in maritime history and lore, it draws you into its fabled days. As you climb to the top of the lighthouse tower to view the beacon, imagine the life of the "wickies," the lonely lighthouse keepers who lived at this first-of-its-kind outpost.

What you will see along the way:
A 25-minute picturesque drive through Juneau brings you to Auke Bay, where you'll board your vessel in search of the abundant wildlife that calls the Inside Passage home. Later, a narrated scenic drive along Mendenhall River offers breathtaking vistas of McGinnis Mountain and the Sawtooth Peaks with a stop at the Brotherhood Bridge for a view of magnificent Mendenhall Glacier.

Photo Opportunity:
Mendenhall Glacier
Your final stop is at the Brotherhood Bridge viewpoint to marvel at the beauty of Mendenhall Glacier, one of the most awe-inspiring and accessible glaciers in North America. This 13-mile-long river of ice, which ends on the far side of Mendenhall Lake, is one of Alaska's shining gems. A half-mile wide with ice up to 1,800 feet deep, it's no surprise that Mendenhall is the most visited glacier in Alaska.

Snack:
A refreshment is offered during your day, including locally made Alaskan fudge, granola bars, caribou sausage sticks, coffee/tea and bottled water.

Shopping:
After touring the historic lighthouse, stop at the charming gift shop for commemorative lighthouse pins, t-shirts, caps, and sweatshirts, and more. Your purchase benefits ongoing lighthouse restoration.

Special Notes:

Tour may operate in reverse order. Due to ongoing remodeling, access inside the lighthouse tower may be limited. Views of the Mendenhall Glacier are weather dependent.
