Pencarrow Station and Lodge
Nestled on the easternmost point of Wellington Harbour, Pencarrow Station is one of the area's oldest sheep and cattle farms. This 2,000-acre privately owned ranch is surrounded by thousands of acres of regional parks and home to Wellington's only hidden lakes, as well as the oldest lighthouse in New Zealand and many historic Maori sites. Pencarrow Lodge sports themed décor, timber floors, large open fireplaces, and a wide viewing deck. Guests are treated to a farm dog demonstration and an engaging talk about the property plus morning or afternoon tea.

What you will see along the way:
Beauty abounds as you journey around the crescent-shaped shoreline of Wellington Harbour. Gaze upon quaint villages and sparkling bays tucked along the Storm Coast, named for the hidden shipwrecks that are dotted along the rugged coastline. As you approach Pencarrow Station, enjoy views that stretch across the Cook Strait to the snow-capped Kaikoura Ranges on South Island. On your return to Wellington, you'll pass through Days Bay. Charming oceanfront homes, cafés and secluded bays make this one of Wellington's most popular resort areas.

Photo Opportunity:
Pencarrow Head Lighthouse, built in 1858, is surrounded by wild seascape scenery. It is New Zealand's oldest lighthouse, and it was also home to its first and only female lighthouse keeper.

Snack:
Pencarrow Lodge is a private, secluded venue with expansive views and lodge-themed décor. Enjoy morning or afternoon tea by the large open fireplaces in a comfy chair or on the wide viewing deck.
