What You Will Visit:
Achilleion Palace:
Located in the village of Gastouri, Achilleion Palace was constructed in 1890 by Empress Elisabeth of Austria. The interior of this neoclassical marvel, designed by Italian architect Raffaelle Caritto in a Pompeii-architectural style, is resplendent with frescos, murals and sculptures of Achilles throughout. In the center of the manicured garden is the famous Dying Achilles, sculpted by the German artist Ernst Herter. German Kaiser Wilhelm II bought the palace as a summer home after the empress's death. It has served in both World Wars as a hospital and as a military headquarters. The palace is surrounded by exceptional views of Corfu city.

Private Villa:
A beautifully renovated private villa located on a hilltop with panoramic views of the sea is the perfect setting for a traditional lunch served with wine or ouzo and an energetic folkloric show with live music. Weather permitting, you may use the sparkling pool located in the fragrant garden.

What you See Along the Way:
Corfu Town / Old Fortress
The beloved island of the Ionian archipelago, Corfu Town is anchored by its magnificent fortress. The Venetians constructed the fortress between 1572 and 1645 to protect the city's west side. Completed by both the French and British, the Old Fortress stands guard over the town and harbor and is considered an architectural masterpiece. Additional modern and medieval charms are found at the English cricket pitch and the elegant Palace of St. Michael and St. George, once home to Corfu's British rulers.

Lunch:
Savor a traditional lunch of Greek specialties served with refreshments, wine or ouzo and accompanied by a costumed folkloric show.

Anticipate a few steps to visit the Achilleion Palace plus two staircases without handrails to visit its gardens. The old town of Corfu will be explored on foot over level terrain and streets. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
