WHAT YOU VISIT
- Porta Nuova (exterior visit)
The walls that encircle Pisa is a great introduction to the medieval sights of Pisa. Built in 1155, the walls and gate serve as an entryway into the Campo dei Marcoli Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

- Duomo (exterior visit)
Built between 1064 and 1164, Pisa's breathtaking Cathedral is a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture. The marble façade boasts pastel-colored marble inlay and three portals with bronze doors. Above, are four rows of open arcades with delicate columns and Moorish-inspired arches. Don't forget to look for the lizard on the door-touch it and you may have good luck!

- The Baptistery (exterior visit)
Standing 180-feet-tall and 341-feet in circumference, Italy's largest baptistery is slightly taller than the Leaning Tower, which sits across the square. Construction began in 1152 and completed in the 14th century; as for the stunning bronze doors of the Baptistery, Michelangelo dubbed them "the Gates of Paradise."

- Leaning Tower of Pisa (exterior visit)
Designed as the bell tower for the Cathedral, its faulty design and loose soil caused The Tower to begin leaning soon after construction started in the 12th century. Galileo, a native of Pisa, used this structure of wonder and beauty to help him determine his laws of gravity and acceleration. (He used the Cathedral to study the movement of the pendulum, too.)

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Picture-perfect selfies abound around every corner of the stunning Piazza dei Miracoli, or Square of Miracles. If you want to strike that perfect pose with the Leaning Tower, you can "push" the tower upright, look like you're giving it a karate chop, or holding it in your hand.
