Lace up your hiking shoes and grab your camera for an immersive natural adventure into the iconic landscapes that so inspired famed painter Paul Cézanne. Both nature lovers and art history buffs will greatly enjoy spending three hours traversing the rugged paths along Mont Ste. Victoire.

Begin with a scenic 90-minute motorcoach drive to the breathtaking Aix-en-Provence countryside. Your destination is Mont Ste. Victoire and its spellbinding landscapes, the subject of Paul Cézanne's art. Upon arrival, embark on a two-hour hike through the magnificent scenery. Be sure to wear suitable walking shoes and bring your camera for spectacular nature photographs.

Mont Ste. Victoire, one of the most iconic symbols of Provence with its red clay foothills and gleaming white limestone ridge, offers a number of trails that traverse the mountainside revealing sweeping vistas of the Aix region. The rolling plains, river valleys, fragrant vineyards and tiny hilltop villages were the inspiration for Cézanne's paintings. As you walk, you'll be treated to a number of special points of interest, including the Lac de Bimont dam and several of the artist's favorite nature settings.

Paul Cézanne was born and raised in Aix-en-Provence. He was fascinated by the landscape and the jagged Mont Sainte Victoire, towering to 3,316 feet, or 1,011meters. Taking long walks through the pastoral countryside, he carried his paints and brushes on his back, endlessly intrigued by the light and bucolic beauty of this natural playground, which became Cézanne's focal point. He painted the mountain in 44 oil paintings and 43 water-colors. He famously said about the area, "When you're born there, it's hopeless. Nothing else is good enough."

As you hike, your knowledgeable guide will highlight points of interest and key photo opportunities.

On your drive back to port, settle in and relax as you wind your way through beautiful scenery dotted with small villages. Return to port refreshed and rejuvenated after this extraordinary day spent in nature.
