Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Luxuriate in a leisurely three-hour float on the turquoise waters of the Kenai River and into the heart of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.

Although tourists the world over descend on the Kenai River to fish, this part of the river is peaceful and quiet due to the fact that motorized vessels are prohibited. A great family trip suitable for all ages, you'll all enjoy the solitude and serenity, far from the crowds as an experienced guide leads you on an 11-mile float trip on the peaceful waters of the Kenai, surrounded by the snow-capped mountain scenery of the Kenai Mountains. Once an important summer-gathering place for the Dena'ina Indians, the upper Kenai is world famous for its sockeye salmon.

Bask in the views and keep your cameras handy - the Refuge is home to Alaskan brown bears, bald eagles, and salmon. You may also see black bears, coyotes, porcupines, weasels, snowshoe hares and the ever-elusive lynx. And keep an eye out for moose; reaching heights of up to 7 1/2 feet at the shoulder and weighing up to 1800 pounds, Kenai's moose are the largest herbivores in North America. There are plenty of birds in the Refuge, such as great horned owls, spruce grouse, hairy and downy woodpeckers and boreal chickadees.
