Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

For a heart-stirring experience that just may leave you speechless, spend a day cruising the unspoiled wonders of the Kenai Fjords National Park. Glaciers, earthquakes, and ocean storms have shaped the Fjords for centuries, resulting in constantly changing terrain. The excitement begins when your vessel ventures out from Seward to Resurrection Bay. Then out to the open waters of the Gulf of Alaska, around Aialik Peninsula to the face of Aialik Glacier. As you marvel at the serene surroundings, listen for the thunder of ''calving'' - a process by which glaciers shed giant blocks and slabs of ancient ice and sends it crashing into the still waters of this protected harbor. The ancient ice gouged out Kenai's fjords, creating habitats for throngs of sea animals. About 20 species of seabirds, by the tens of thousands, migrate or nest along the rocky coastline.

Wildlife is abundant throughout the Park; approximately 23 species of mammals, including harbor seals, northern sea lions, and sea otters, make the fjord their home. Moose, black bears, wolverines, lynx, and marten roam the narrow bands of forest between the coast and icefield. Watch for a variety of marine life such as humpback whales, orcas, seabirds, sea lions, and otters.

A complimentary lunch is served onboard while you keep track of your route on the flat screen monitors displaying the map of the Park. The trip is narrated by certified captains at the helm of the most modern fleet of vessels in the state. The ship's deck is the best place to see the stunning wildlife and dramatic scenery but the winds can be cold, even on sunny days so plan to dress in warm layers that include a windproof and waterproof outer shell, a warm hat and gloves or mittens.

Special Notes:

Bring your camera and binoculars. Dress in warm layers so you can spend time on the deck. If you think you may be susceptible to motion sickness, we recommend asking your physician about prescription and OTC medications to alleviate discomfort so that you can enjoy your tour to the fullest.
