Belize Barrier Reef
One of the most diverse ecosystems in the world, the Belize Barrier Reef is comprised of 70 hard coral species and 36 soft coral species and is home to 500 species of fish, with many more still to be discovered. Charles Darwin described it as "the most remarkable barrier reef in the West Indies" in 1842. A large portion of the reef is protected by the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System and offers incredible diving and snorkeling opportunities. It was designated as a World Heritage Site in 1996 due to its spectacular beauty and ecological and biological significance.

Rendezvous Caye
After the snorkeling, take a well deserved beach break on an idyllic stretch of soft sand on this beautiful tropical island. A complimentary beach mat is provided.

What you will see along the way:

Among the reef's wonders are exquisite flora, fauna, 106 different species of live coral, 500 species of colorful fish and hundreds of invertebrate species. The natural reef protection provides safe and easy snorkeling perfect for both beginners and advanced snorkelers. High-quality snorkeling gear is provided that includes Blast swim fins that will give you twice the speed with half the exertion in the water.

Snacks:

Complimentary water and punch are provided on the transfer from the cruise ship to the island. Snacks, hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks are available for purchase on Rendezvous Caye.

Special Notes:

Time on the island is approximately 2½ hours. Pregnant women past 2nd trimester and those guests with serious heart conditions or joint problems are not permitted. Minimum age to snorkel is 8 years old - must be able to swim.
