WHAT YOU VISIT
- San Gervasio
Dating back to 100 B.C., San Gervasio's noted as the largest, most important and only official archaeological site on Cozumel. As you tour the ruins in this lush rainforest setting, you'll see a variety of ancient fragments of the temples and sculptures, as well as the ruins of nine buildings connected by three roads. Inside the Temple of the Hands, you'll be intrigued by the small handprints on the walls of mysterious origins.

Learn more about Mayan customs and heritage with a stroll around this interactive place. Visit a Mayan house and witness how Mayan people used to live, explore the secrets to Mayan culinary and gardening techniques, watch a chocolate demonstration and experiment with chocolate mixing, using ingredients such as chili and honey.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
A stop at El Mirador rewards you with picture-postcard-pretty shots of the rugged eastern coastline and unusual rock formations that's carved by the sea into the shape of a natural bridge. The waves here are dramatic, forming tide pools and jagged spires set against the sapphire blue of the Caribbean Sea.

Special Notes:

Care should be taken as the surfaces can be slippery, uneven and rough. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. Flat, comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes; sun caps; sunglasses; sunscreen, cash for extras and insect repellant are suggested. There is a government tax of $8-10 USD on the use of video cameras at each site. No tripods and/or professional video cameras are allowed. Flash photos are not allowed inside the ruins due to the delicate nature of the displays. No food is allowed in the ruins.
