WHAT YOU VISIT
- Rio Secreto Nature Reserve
Also known as Secret River, the region's most unique natural treasure is an amazing series of caverns connected by underground waterways, with limestone and quartz stalactites and stalagmites lining the route. Once used by ancient Mayans for sacred rituals and ceremonies, the area is acclaimed as a NAT GEO Top 10 Family Activity and EarthCheck Silver certified for its good sustainable practices.
During this expedition, you'll walk, wade, and even swim through the rugged .37-mile-long route (600 meters). After you're outfitted in wetsuits, water shoes and helmets with headlamps, your expert guide will outline the cultural and natural importance of this underground world as you enter the caverns and marvel at this magical subterranean place that went unexplored for millions of years!

Special Notes:
Minimum age to participate is 5 years old, maximum weight allowed is 250 pounds. Guest must be in good physical condition and able to walk up to one and a half hours through the water. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a hat, a dry change of clothes, water shoes, cash/credit cards and reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen (no other kind of sunscreen is allowed in the water). To avoid sunburn, bring light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Watches, jewelry, photo and video cameras are not allowed inside the caves. The water temperature is about 23C or 73F but a wetsuit is provided! The photo service at the venue is not affiliated with or provided by the cruise line. Any photos purchased from this service will be the passengers' responsibility. Once participants join their tour, they will be required to complete a liability waiver. The ride to the site will be bumpy. Pregnant women or guests with back or neck problems and/or recent surgeries are not allowed to participate.
