One of the best ways to see Copenhagen is on a guided walking tour that takes you up close to many of the city's most popular and historic attractions. Your three-hour tour begins at the harbor and makes its way towards the center of Copenhagen.

One of the first sights you'll see is The Little Mermaid. No visit to Copenhagen is complete without seeing the city's most famous symbol. Completed in 1913, this famous statue was erected to express gratitude to Hans Christian Andersen and his world-known fairy tales. Then continue to the Gefion Fountain that offers spectacular views of the harbor and the city, the Old Citadel is also home to the Gefion Fountain, the biggest monument in Copenhagen. The fountain's sculptures depict the Norse myth of the powerful goddess Gefion who turned her sons into oxen and plowed through the earth and sea to create Zealand, an island off the coast of Denmark. Further on is the Amalienborg Palace. Lining the sides of Copenhagen's most beautiful square, the four Rococo palace buildings have been in use as royal residences since 1750, and today, is the winter home of Queen Margrethe II and her family.

Next, you'll make your way to the Nyhavn waterfront. Once the home of Hans Christian Andersen, this colorful 17th century waterfront district features brightly colored 17th and 18th century townhouses, restaurants, and cafés, and a canal packed with old wooden ships. Engoy refreshments and local cake at Odd Fellows Mansion, a beautiful Rococo town mansion named after the local branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows which acquired the building in 1900.

From there, you'll continue to King's New Square. Established by King Christian V in 1670, the square is home to the Royal Danish Theater, the Hotel Angleterre and Magasin du Nord, Denmark's first department store.

Then, you'll walk over to Gammel Strand. From here, you have splendid views of Christianborg Palace, home of Denmark's Parliament; the 16th century Holmens Church, site of the Queen's wedding in 1967; and the Old Stock Exchange, one of the Old Stock Exchange that features a 196-foot "dragon-spire" tower topped with three golden crowns symbolizing the union of the Nordic countries.

At the end of the tour, a transfer bus will take you back to the ship or you may opt to remain in Copenhagen for independent sightseeing and shopping; however, you are then responsible for your own transportation back to the ship.
