Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

One of the best ways to discover all the watery wonders Gothenburg has to offer is aboard a RIB, a lightweight and high capacity Rigid Inflatable Boat. Capable of startling acrobatic maneuvers and high speeds, the RIBs provide an excellent vehicle for an exhilarating three-hour excursion that begins at the pier and ends with a memory making adventure in Gothenburg's stunning and protected archipelago.

But this isn't just a cruise over the water; the RIB will whisk you past iconic landmarks, unspoiled seascapes, picture perfect fishing villages and to a nearby seal colony for a chance to see the frisky and friendly seals that make their home among the rocky coastline.

The tour is speedy and safe for the whole family to enjoy (ages five and up) with suitable equipment available on deck but so heading out, it's best to dress warmly and be sure to bring along a camera to capture every unforgettable moment.

Your action-packed excursion begins with a transfer from the pier to the city of Gothenburg. When you board your vessel, you'll receive overalls, boots and an inflatable life vest. After donning your equipment your captain will share his knowledge of the area and its history as you slowly cruise out of the harbor and make your way down the coast.

Once out at sea, the boat will pick up speed and zip past the iconic Älvsborgs fortress. Situated on an island in the Rivö fjord at the mouth of the Göta River, the 17th century fortress protected medieval Sweden's only access to the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

Then, you'll accelerate past Vinga lighthouse, active since its founding in 1890, and on to one of the grey seal colonies that make their home in Sweden's western archipelago.

As the boat nears the colony the captain will pause the engines providing camera buffs with one jaw-dropping photo opportunity after another. From the boat, you'll be able to watch these cute critters napping on the rocks or diving into the frigid waters looking for food.

Have your camera handy, grey seals sometimes like to play peek-a-boo. Maybe a male will pop his head out of the water. Recognized by a large snout and moustache, a typical male seal can reach nine feet long and weigh up to 600 pounds.

Photos taken, your captain will rev up the engines for the return trip to the pier. En route, you'll continue south past the quaint islands of Brännö, Känsö, and Långedrag.

After your glorious time on the water, you'll have a fun-filled photo album and plenty of keepsakes to show the folks back home.
