Board your air conditioned van and set out on the approximately one-hour drive to the entrance of the Ho'olawa Valley, traveling along Maui's rugged coast and enjoying views of the sea, rainforest and mountains.
Join your guides at the trailhead and set off on a 2-mile roundtrip hike through the Ho'olawa Valley. Your escorts are expert naturalists who have won renown as virtual encyclopedias on Hawaii's botany, geology and natural history.
Your route travels through a classic Maui valley of tropical rainforest, bamboo groves, ferns, tropical vines and flowers. Running streams cross the valley floor. The Ho'olawa Valley is renowned for the number of its waterfalls: your hike visits a number of the falls, which range in height from 10 feet to 40 feet, and all feature pools that are perfect for a refreshing dip. Swimming and wading are optional.
While hiking the Ho'olawa is not a strenuous trek, it is a hike - with uneven, sometimes muddy paths, tree roots and rocks.
