Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum
World War II began for the United States on Dec. 7, 1941, when Japanese fighter planes attacked the U.S. base at Pearl Harbor. In one of the deadliest attacks in U.S. military history, over 2,400 people lost their lives, and 20 American ships and 3,000 airplanes were damaged or destroyed. Visit the hangars of the Pacific Aviation Museum for a unique look at the aviation history of the United States. A documentary on the Pearl Harbor attack is narrated by pilots, and a host of fighter planes, including the Curtiss P-40E Warhawk, are on display.

Ford Island Control Tower
The first broadcast from Ford Island as the Japanese air raid on Pearl Harbor commenced were, "Air raid Pearl Harbor. This is no drill." Construction on the 158-foot control tower started in 1941, and today the Ford Island Field Control Tower stands as a monument to the brave men and women who fought in WWII. Originally it was painted a dark gray, but it's now iconic red and white stripe was painted in the 1960s, just in time for the tower's starring role in such films as Tora! Tora! Tora! and Pearl Harbor.

USS Missouri
Step aboard the USS Missouri Memorial, berthed on the former "battleship row" at Ford Island. The 887-foot-long "Mighty Mo" battleship is a living museum that offers guests a glimpse into the past and the experience of being aboard a ship that is alive with history as well as modern technology. You will be educated and entertained with exhibits, memorabilia and activities and will stand on the "Surrender Deck" where General Douglas MacArthur stood when Japanese officials signed and presented him with the "Articles of Surrender" that ended World War II.

Relax on your 30-minute drive to the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, along the Nimitz Highway.

Special Notes:

Tour requires walking approximately 1.5 miles on uneven terrain. The visit to the Control Tower requires climbing 50 steps. Guests should wear comfortable walking shoes, hat for shade, bring sunscreen and bottled water (clear plastic bottle only). This tour is on an active duty military base with a strict no bag policy. Lockers are available for rental if necessary.
