Your tour begins as you meet your guide and 4WD vehicle at the pier. Now your adventure begins. You'll travel to the scenic east coast of Tahiti and the famous Papenoo Valley.

You'll drive to Tahara'a "One Tree Hill" for a spectacular view of Matavai Bay. Captain James Cook sailed the "Endeavor" into Tahiti's Matavai Bay in 1769 and sighted a single tree with bright red-orange flowers growing on the promontory above the bay. Cook used the tree as a navigational landmark and named this reference point "One Tree Hill." Although the gnarled old tree has long since disappeared, the lookout provides impressive panoramic views of the island of Moorea, the Sea of Moons and the surrounding coral reefs and lagoons. The monumental 110-foot tall lighthouse built in 1867 is still operational up to this day.

Next on you itinerary is a short coastal drive and a turn inland at the mouth of Papenoo River to begin your ascent up the largest valley on the island. The view of the surrounding mountainsides carved by centuries of erosion and covered with rich, thick, multi-green rainforest will awe you. The adventurous drive crosses rivers and includes photo stops at the numerous waterfalls.

You're welcome to take a swim in one of the natural pools of the river (if water levels permit) before stopping at a panoramic viewpoint for refreshments.

You'll retrace your path down the valley and pause at a famous surfing and black-sand beach Venus before returning to the pier.

Special Notes:

This tour travels unpaved roads and paths that may be bumpy and muddy. Not recommended for guests with neck or back conditions or pregnant women.

There are no changing facilities at the forest pool; passengers should wear their swimsuits and bring a towel.

As a disembarking tour, transfer to the airport is an additional cost and will have to be purchased separately.
