Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Your journey begins at the pier where you'll board your motorcoach and travel to Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Take the highway through Brisbane's northern suburbs on the approximately one-hour drive to Australia Zoo.

The Australia Zoo is a 70-acre animal conservancy that was founded by Steve Irwin of Crocodile Hunter fame. Steve was born into a family of wildlife conservationists. When Steve was young, his parents ran a wildlife sanctuary, and he carried on the family tradition as an adult. After he married Terri, they embarked on a crocodile rescue mission that changed their lives with the documentary The Crocodile Hunter. This spawned a number of TV series and fame for the man now known the world over as the Crocodile Hunter. In 2006, Steve Irwin was killed in a freak accident while snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef at the barb of a stingray. But the Australia Zoo lives on, providing the ultimate wildlife adventure, in the spirit of Irwin.

The Australia Zoo is home to some of the world's most exotic wildlife. See fresh and salt-water crocodiles, feed the kangaroos, watch a huge crocodile spring from the waters edge, and have your photo taken with a giant python. (There is an additional expense to purchase food and have photographs taken.)

There are 14 free wildlife shows daily. If you're interested in souvenirs, there are four shopping outlets on the grounds. Snacks and refreshments are available for purchase at Australia Zoo. You'll have approximately two hours to explore the park at your own pace, after which, you'll meet at an agreed upon place and time.

Next, board your motorcoach and ascend a winding road to Montville in the Sunshine Coast's hinterland. Settled in 1887, this village is often described as the "Creative Heart of the Sunshine Coast." Montville is home to art galleries, artist studios, crafters workshops and restored Victorian cottages. Take a stroll through the tranquil village lined by restored Victorian homes and browse the storefronts for artwork, gifts, jewelry and other souvenirs.

Finally, you'll head back to the pier. Rejoin your ship, ready to take you on your next adventure.
