Laughton Glacier Hike & White Pass Rail Adventure

Your adventure begins with a 14-mile journey on the White Pass & Yukon Route railway aboard a vintage railcar. "The Scenic Railway of the World" provides views of spectacular waterfalls, rushing rivers and jagged mountain peaks. Debark the train at Glacier Station, gear up and set off on your 4- to 6-mile guided hike in the clean mountain air.

The magnificent sub-alpine rainforest valley is home to moose, bear and mountain goats. The trail winds along the raging Warm Pass fork of the Skagway River to the majestic Laughton Glacier. The terrain changes dramatically as you leave the forest, hike up the riverbed and climb over a boulder field up onto the glacier. Enjoy the breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views, exposed crevasses and moulins of the great frozen river of ice. After the roundtrip hike, you'll reboard the train for the journey back to Skagway. Lunch is enjoyed during your hike.

Special Notes:

Minimum age is 9. Participants should be in good physical condition; this is a 4- to 6-mile hike over difficult terrain including rocks and tree roots. Depending on group's fitness level, the tour could extend to 8 miles. Tour operates rain or shine. Your guide will carry rain gear and other items such as sunscreen and insect repellent. A small lumbar pack with a snack and water is provided. Participants must in good physical condition, able to walk over uneven and sometimes challenging terrain including rocks and tree roots, and hike in all weather conditions. Dress in layers; wear sturdy walking/hiking shoes. Snow conditions may limit the ability to access the glacier early season and if needed, snowshoes may be used.

Provided: Rain gear, gloves, trekking pole, day pack

Meal: Sandwich buffet, salmon pate snack, bottled water

Liability waiver must be signed in the presence of the tour operator.

Unaccompanied Minor Policy: Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
